Design

  • A campus within a master-planned site that both complements and distinguishes itself from the other ensemble buildings
  • A splayed bar massing arrangement that creates focused and active zones, effectively separating the program into academic and active learning areas
  • A traditional aesthetic expression of brick and stone with ached openings provides for monumental scale and rhythmic articulation

Value

  • Efficient shared use of site with planned adjacencies to a career center, running track, athletic fields, all within walking distance for students
  • Use of local, durable materials such as brick masonry, ceramic wall tile, and terrazzo flooring to reduce life cycle and maintenance costs

Sustainability

  • Geothermal HVAC systems, insulated concrete form (ICF) exterior walls, and Energy Star roofing reduce energy consumption and save on long term operational costs
  • Low E glazing, high efficiency lighting, and natural daylighting with operable shading devices decrease heat load and HVAC demand

Community

  • A campus that recreates context through a new cultural connection between school and neighborhood
  • Traditional neighborhood centerpiece that acknowledges the small-town roots of a modern, fast-growing community
  • Community within is strengthened by a smaller student population that better supports peer-to-peer and student-to-teacher interaction, which is enhanced by the purposeful arrangement of collaboration and gathering spaces

Planning

  • A master-planned ensemble of buildings, centrally located to support education in both the immediate and extended community
  • A smaller campus conceived by the District and community over 20 years ago that provides students with multiple opportunities to excel academically and to access a broad variety of electives supported by quality learning environments
  • Educational program is tailored to allow school students to fully engage socially and emotionally in their high school experience

School Transformation

  • A high school designed for smaller student enrollment that offers big opportunities for students to participate in a full spectrum of curriculum and extracurricular options
  • Multi-use, multi-function spaces promote peer-to-peer collaboration and enhance active learning
  • Collaborative environment creates a rich and well-rounded high school experience that prepares students for future success
