Van ISD—J. E. Rhodes Elementary School

A new PK – 1 elementary school replacing an existing f-3 tornado destroyed facility. A portion of the existing campus / site was repurposed for this new building. The new design re-oriented the campus to the community and re-organized for appropriate vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow, creating separate parent and bus traffic loops and consolidated access control.

Whitehouse ISD—Mozelle Brown Elementary School

A new elementary on a new site that centralized the school with the students it serves. Designed with its rural surroundings in mind, it situates off main access roads to provide a park-like setting. The site sculpted the building and is revealed through apertures and raised “nodes” filling spaces with natural light. Relying on direct feedback from teachers and administration, the new school provides a variety of unique educational spaces to allow teachers to reach students in thoughtful ways.

Whitehouse ISD—Whitehouse Junior High School

“A circulation spine filled with diffused natural light separates classrooms & labs from noisier activities while providing views into the media center, gymnasiums & cafetorium. Common spaces foster collaboration & relationships. Outdoor learning spaces extend classrooms & learning opportunities. Design features promote scholarship, commitment & integrity.”
